AN ALTERNATE ENDING;
...OR A NEW BEGINNING?

Over a hundred years ago...

The King of Thieves was captured in a failed attempt to kill the Hylian King and usurp the throne. As punishment, he was ordered to be executed by the Ancient Sage spirits, but as this order was carried out, through some divine jest, the evil Gerudo was gifted with the Goddesses’ power and revived.

Breaking free of his restraints, the dark lord drew the weapon of his demise from his chest, his vile laugh filling the air as he prepared to kill his executioners. However, this short moment of reprieve was the King’s downfall, as the Sages managed to open a portal to another world behind him. The void the portal created began to pull at him, slowly drawing him towards its depths, proving beyond even the Goddesses’ power to prevent.

The last act of the King of Evil before he disappeared from time was to launch the Sage’s Sword into the portal’s originator, piercing the very center of the Mirror of Twilight, but this proved to be worthless, as the damage was merely superficial, and the blade was quickly pulled into the void with its new owner…

The world has since lived in peace, battles and wars are small and short, fights becoming a mere training exercise of caution. People remain alert, prepared, but relaxed and comfortable.

Unfortunately, as with all things... peace cannot last forever

 RACES,
« Thread Started on Dec 20, 2008, 11:14pm »

These are the races we are allowing at Requiem of Twilight, spanning across quite a few Zelda titles. We have altered a few of them slightly to expand their playability, but please note that almost everything about these creatures is still the same as in the games, even if not included in the descriptions below.

Also, all Racial Abilities, mentioned or not, are automatically counted when you make a Character of that Species, so don't worry about including them in your Character Sheet~

For more information on Races, feel free to check the various Zelda Wikis: CLICK-CLICK-CLICK

There's benefits to being some of the "Rarer" Races on the board too, check here~

One last note, please keep in mind, the "Fantasy Reference" is just to inform members of what Fantasy races the Zelda ones are similar to, whether it be cultures or simply resembling them appearance-wise.

Deku
Scrub-like creatures, over the years many have gotten quite big, a few even taking on more humanoid appearances with durable bark-skin. They have the ability to produce Magical Bubbles and Deku Nuts and Seeds, which most use these as projectiles from their mouths, though some have more creative means for them. They can manipulate flora to their advantage, are light enough to walk on water and float through the air, are incredibly weak to fire, and mainly reside in forests.

The Dekus are ruled by The Deku Royal Family.

    1. Light-Weight Water and Air Floating: This ability is 100% natural, and thus doesn't have any Cooldowns or requirements to use it.
    2. Deku Nuts: Shooting between 1 to 3 nuts from a Deku's mouth, they cause a blinding flash upon impact. 3 Post Cooldown.
    3. Deku Seeds: Shooting between 1 to 5 seeds from a Deku's mouth, they cause a bit of damage. 2 Post Cooldown.
    4. Magical Bubbles: Shooting between 1 to 3 bubbles from a Deku's mouth, they cause decent damage. 3 Post Cooldown.
    5. Plant Manipulation: Can cause vines to grow from the ground to assist in battle. Manipulation can be done for 3 Posts straight, but requires a 2 Post Cooldown for each Post used.

Fantasy Reference: Ents; living tree people.

Fairy
These faithful creatures make great companions, loyal to a fault, once they stick with you they will almost never leave. Fairies have healing capabilities that can heal most wounds easily and are able to change their size, the smallest being the size of a flower in the shape of a glowing ball, the biggest being the size of a full grown Hylian. They each have at least one pair of wings, the max amount being three pairs, which allow them to fly with great speed at any size and can emit a bright light if they wish.

The Fairies are ruled by The Queen Great Fairy.

    1. Flight: This ability is 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use it.
    2. Healing: While Fairies can heal just about anything, how much energy it takes does vary: small wounds like cuts and scrapes has a 1 Post Cooldown, gashes and internal wounds have a 2 Post Cooldown, and broken bones have a 3 Post Cooldown.
    3. Size Change: Fairies can change size to anything between Human and Flower, but has a 2 Post Cooldown between shifts.
    4. Light Emission: Focusing on their internal holy energy, Fairies can emit a bright holy light to help protect themselves. It can last up to 5 Posts, but requires a 2 Post Cooldown for each Post used.

Fantasy Reference: Fairies.

Gerudo
This small tribe hails from the Desert Province and is comprised entirely of beautiful females, as only one male is born to them every 100 years. All possess dark tanned skin and most have red hair with yellow eyes, they are a strong, powerful race that trains almost constantly in battle and thievery from a very young age, leading many believe that they are nigh unbeatable in one-on-one combat. They are typically sexist against men and often use their beauty to almost easily get what they want, their voice harmoniously able to put a single target into a mild daze for a short time.

The Gerudo are ruled by The Gerudo King.

    1. Intense Combat Prowess: This ability is 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use it.

    3. Stealth: Master thieves, the Gerudo are able to momentarily turn invisible within shadows. Lasts for up to 3 Posts, but requires a 2 Post Cooldown for each Post used.

Fantasy Reference: Amazons; warrior women.

Goron
Though they may seem large and intimidating, benevolent and helpful is what they really are; a hidden intelligence lying beneath their slow exterior. Eating earth and rock alone, these great beings often produce varying sized stone growths on their bodies, which, while providing extending metal spikes, extreme heat tolerance, great strength, and intense defensive capabilities, causes them to be very slow when not rolling around and sink quickly in water, though they do not breathe, plus their eyesight is very poor. They are renowned lovers of Sumo Wrestling and practice it often within their Death Mountain home. Thanks to evolution, some Gorons are born more Humanoid, though they still retain rough skin and some rock growth, as well as all of their racial abilities.

The Gorons are led by The Patriarch; Darbus.

    1. Great Physical Prowess, High Heat Resistance, Rolling, and Breathless: These abilities are 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use them.
    2. Metal Spikes: When fighting or rolling, a Goron can extend hardened metal spikes from different parts of their body for defensive and offensive capabilities. Lasts for up to 3 Posts, but requires a 2 Post Cooldown for each Post used.

Fantasy Reference: Rock-like people, somewhat like Trolls.

Hylian
The Hylians are believed to be the Chosen Race of the Goddesses and have the greatest magical and psychic capabilities, allowing them to mildly resist assaults of that nature and sense spirits. They have heightened senses and elf-like appearances, with pointy ears and frailer frames than other races. Unfortunately their numbers have begun to diminish in recent years and almost all of them are a part of the Hylian Knights, guarding the Royal Family that commands Hyrule.

The Hylians are ruled by The Hylian Royal Family; Princess Zelda.
50 Posts minimum required to create a Hylian Character.

      1. Great Magical and Psychic Prowess, High Magical Resistance, Spirit Sensing, and Heightened Senses: These abilities are 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use them.

Fantasy Reference: Elves.

Human
This race is descended from Hylians and look very similar, save for rounded ears and stockier builds. Unfortunately, due to their diluted blood, their senses and magical capabilities are slightly more limited, but their physical strength is much greater. Their numbers currently set them at the most populate race in the realms.

The Humans are ruled by The Human Count, under the Hylian Royal Family.

    1. High Physical Prowess, Great Adaptability, and Mild Magical Prowess: These abilities are 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use them.

Kokiri
Known as the spirits of the forest, they have been gifted with eternal youth; most of these humanoids having lived many years beyond their childish appearance. The oldest a Kokiri can physically age is 12 years, though many stop before this. Using their lithe, small size and innocent appearance to their advantage, these "children" can often sneak into many places unnoticed, and even upon being caught, can often feign ignorance to get away with many things. Through their deep connection with nature, the Kokiri are able to communicate with wildlife and plants. plus have a mild natural regeneration ability. When in trouble, they are able to summon two wooden Puppets to assist them, controlled by a musical instrument, plus the ability to change into Skull Kids, granting them greater endurance, high speed, and a scarecrow-like appearance that is semi-camouflaging.

The Kokiri are led by The Boss.

    1. Communication with Wildlife and Plants and Mild Regeneration: These abilities are 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use them.
    2. Summon a Pair of Wooden Puppets: Allies to assist the Kokiri, they are decently strong and can be kept around for 4 Posts, but have a 1 Post Cooldown for each Post.
    3. Skull Kid Form: An alternate form of the Kokiri, it grants them greater physical abilities and can be maintained for 5 Posts, but have a 2 Post Cooldown for each Post.

Fantasy Reference: Eternally young children.

Minish
Also called "Picori", they are the only race in Hyrule that has animal characteristics; usually fangs, claws, fur, ears, horns, and/or tails. These beings typically live in forests and mountains, plus they possess the ability to talk to animals and alter their size greatly, capable of being as small as a flea, to as big as a Hylian, as well as heightened hearing and can not only transform into the mammal of the qualities they possess, but also become invisible for very short periods of time when in direct sunlight. Typically the mammal their appendages originate from symbolizes their own personality and talents, such as Cat Minish possessing Cat characteristics like curiosity or Rabbit Minish possessing Rabbit qualities like good reflexes.

The Minish are led by The Chief.

    1. Mammal Physical Traits, Communication with Wildlife and Heightened Senses: These abilities are 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use them.
    2. Size Manipulation: Minish can alter their size to anything between Human and Flea, but has a 2 Post Cooldown between changes.

    4. Sunlight Invisibility: When a Minish is in the sun’s rays, they can turn invisible if they choose for 3 Posts, with a 1 Post Cooldown for each Post.

Fantasy Reference: Nekomata/Catgirls, Zoanthropes, etc; humanoids with a mammal's characteristics that can turn into that animal.

Oocca
Also known as the Ancient Sky Beings, over the years this once private race has grown much larger, though their coloration often remains yellow or brown hued and they actually have the ability to transform between their humanoid and bird forms. Their wings either replace a set of appendages or reside somewhere attached to their bodies, but both versions are capable of being drawn into themselves and hidden from view. They also have sharp eyes, telekinetic abilities, and are able to teleport from one location to another instantly, though repeated use of this weakens them.

The Oocca are led by The Lord.

    1. Flight and Enhanced Senses: These abilities are 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use them.
    2. Humanoid and Bird Form: All Oocca can change their form anywhere between 100% Human appearing and 100% Bird appearing, though a 2 Post Cooldown is required between changes.
    3. Telekinesis: Oocca have the ability to move objects with their mind, though its strength varies between Oocca. They can use it for 2 Posts straight, with a 4 Post Cooldown.
    4. Teleporting: The Oocca are gifted with the ability to teleport anywhere they’ve been before by concentrating on it, though it requires a 2 Post Cooldown.

Fantasy Reference: Angels and/or Harpies. This version of the Oocca are somewhat similar to the Rito of the Adult Timeline.

Twili
The people of the twilight, living within the Twilight Realm. They come in all sizes, usually with very long limbs and various shades of blue colored skin. They have the ability to transform into powerful creatures of various shapes, nicknamed Shadow Beast Form, taking on a incorporeal state when in danger to protect themselves similar to Poes, called Dusk Form, and are capable of hiding within and teleporting between shadows, which is required when in the Light Realm to protect themselves from the light of the sun and moon. Many join the Twilight Messengers, protectors of the Sovereign.

The Twili are ruled by The Sovereign; Princess Midna.

    1. Mild Magical Prowess: This ability is 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use it.
    2. Shadow Beast Form: A transformation that all Twili possess, yet what they turn into varies from one to another. It can be held for up to 5 Posts, but requires a 5 Post Cooldown.
    3. Shadow Form: An incorporeal state that the Twili can enter, it renders them similar to ghosts and prevents natural Light from hurting them. It can be maintained for up to 4 Posts, but requires a 5 Post Cooldown.
    4. Shadow Teleportation: A Twili power, it allows them to teleport through shadows instantaneously, though it requires a 2 Post Cooldown.

Fantasy Reference: Blue/Gray skinned humanoids who can transform into beasts.

Zora
The Zora are a proud race, being very protective of each other, even though there are many different types of Zora and Zola. Evolution has granted them gills, fins, and tails, allowing them to live in the water freely and fight in it unmatched by the other races, even capable of using their fins like swords and shields or launching them like boomerangs. Their bodies give a soft glow in low light, which can be intensified, creating an electrical field around them, whether in water or on land. Male Zora tend to be more muscular and larger, while Females are more petite and faster, however, both have great resistance to pressure, perfect night vision, and suffer from severe temperature changes, especially cold.

The Zora are ruled by The Zora Royal Family; Queen Rutela and Prince Ralis.

    1. Swimming Prowess, Water Breathing, Fluorescent Glow, Night Vision, and Pressure Resistance: These abilities are 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use them.
    2. Fin Manipulation: By concentrating their power, Zoras can grow their Fins and use them as Swords, Shields, and Boomerangs, though each shift requires a 2 Post Cooldown.
    3. Electrical Field: When focusing, a Zora can create a barrier of electricity in a perfect sphere around them whether on land or in water to be used for offensive or defensive purposes. It can be maintained for 3 Posts, but has a 2 Post Cooldown for each Post.

Fantasy Reference: Merpeople.

Monster Races
Right now on Requiem, we are allowing Characters of the following Monster Races: Stals, Bokoblins/Bulblins/Moblins, Lynels, Wizzrobes, Iron Knuckles, Darknuts, Tinsuits, Wolfos, Dodongos, Lizalfos/Dynolfos/Daira/Aeralfos, ChuChus, and Boes. Please note, you can have any adaptation of the above Monsters from any Zelda game, save Boss and Mid-Boss versions, which must be specified in the CS, and that all abilities, strengths, and weaknesses of the chosen Monster and your preferred adaptation of it are automatically applied to your Character. Lastly, even though they are all considered Monsters, they can indeed be Good, Neutral, or Evil, it is your choice what path they take.

Poe
When a Character has been killed and the Member wishes to do so, the dead Character may become a Poe. Poes are spiritual beings and thus, while maintaining their living appearance, cannot be physically touched. They are unable to use their weapons or items, but can still use their Magical Abilities, however, this is also their downfall as they are able to be harmed by Magic. Unfortunately, Characters are unable to take part in any Special Threads (Plot-related or Side Quests) while they are Poes *unless* they have 50 Posts. If the killed Character has a post count of 50, or gets to 50 as a Poe, they can be resurrected, but if they are killed while still a Poe, it is a permanent death unless they have 100 Posts.

    1. Ethereal and Flight: This ability is 100% natural, and thus doesn’t have any Cooldowns or requirements to use it.
2: Invisibility: Poes can become invisible to hide themselves better. This can be maintained for up to 3 Posts, with a 2 Post Cooldown for each Post.

Fantasy Reference: Ghosts.

Half-Breeds
Concerning Race Mixing in this RP:

Allowed Hybrids: Hylian, Human, Minish, Fairy, and Gerudo.

Forbidden Hybrids: Zora, Goron, Twili, Deku, Kokiri, Oocca, Monsters, and Poe.

While all Races are allowed to date and be intimate with one another, only the Allowed Hybrid Races would be able to have children together.

Please note, those who decide to make Hybrid Characters must pick ONE of the two Races to be the Dominant Gene.

To clarify further, when people make a Hybrid, they pick one of the two races to be Dominate and they get all their Magic capabilities from that side; meaning of they are Human/Fairy, they either get the Human's 5 Magic Slots or the Fairy’s Racial Abilities, they do NOT get both half’s racial abilities together.

However, Physical Appearance can have bits of both Races, that isn‘t a problem in the least. One can have a Minish/Fairy with mammal parts and fairy wings, people can mix appearance traits of the two Races, its just that you can only pick one species' Racial Abilities.

Unfortunately for Gerudo Hybrids, while their Fathers may be another race, and actually technically have to be, the Mother's Gerudo's Genes completely overwrite the other Races‘, thus making all Gerudo 100%, no trace physically or magically of being a Hybrid at all no matter what the other Race is.

As for those who want to have Hylian Hybrids, they shall be treated almost identical to 100% Hylians when it comes to making them; including the Special Character Number Restriction and Hylian/Humans have the normal 50 Post Requirement, while other Hylian Hybrids have a higher 75 Requirement, but unlike other Hybrids, these people get both of the two Race' Racial Capabilities, as well as both of their Physical Traits. However, it should be noted that their magic won't be as strong as a Pure Hylian and that Hylian/Human Hybrids will only get 6 Magic Slots.
